What is a Halcyon Life Anyway? (+ Giveaway!)

Tomorrow, October 23rd, marks my one year anniversary of this blog!

If you’ve been on this journey with me for a while, you might say to yourself “but, you’ve had this blog for longer than that, haven’t you?” I have. Technically, I started this blog in April 2016. I wrote a few posts, but after a while, I wasn’t really liking the direction my blog was going in. After a few months, I stopped blogging, and then in September 2017, I logged back onto WordPress and decided to try again. I deleted everything I had and started fresh in October. And I must say, I’m a lot happier with how my blog has been growing.

Since it’s already been a year, I wanted to explain how my blog got its name. It wasn’t something that just came to me one night as I was lying in bed (I wish, that would have been a lot easier). But, it was a part of a list of different names I was toying around with at the time.

I knew I wanted the name to be a synonym of calm or serene since I wanted my blog to reflect my journey to a peaceful and fulfilling life. I saw the word “halcyon” in a list of synonyms, and I liked the way it rolled off the tongue. I also liked its definition.

halcyon (adj) – referring to a period of time in the past that was happy and peaceful

Perfect.

When I look back on my life, I want this time (and all of my life, really) to seem happy and peaceful. And, I want this blog to help me achieve that, while at the same time, hoping it brings you happiness and peace as well.

Now, for the giveaway!

I wanted to thank everyone for reading, whether you’ve been with me since the beginning or just started reading today. In return, I bought a few things as a thank you that I wanted to give away.

    1. Honestly, I didn’t mean to put this whole twitter thing there, I just copy pasted my id. But I can’t delete it now. Please delete it for me. My twitter is @blogbushra.
I am feeling embarrassed now. Goofy me. I hope you get the idea that I didn’t mean to do this.

  1. Wow. Congratulations lovely!
Even I started my blog once back in 2014. But I didn’t like the direction it was going in plus I wasn’t in the right state of mind so I deleted everything. And finally started it again after 4 years.
I had no idea that the ‘halcyon’ meant that. I thought it was a part of your name or something like that. But I really love the idea and the meaning. It totally suits your blog!
Unfortunately, I’m not a resident of US so I can’t enter the giveaway but good luck to all those entering.
And congratulations again! Excited to see what this year brings for your blog 💕
