Wake up, get ready for the day, go to work, run errands, come home, make dinner…
It can sometimes feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day. I know I usually feel that way, especially if I am staying late at work. Once I come home, I feel like there is so little time for the things that I actually enjoy, and that once I sit down, it’s time to go to bed and do it all over again.
But, it is important to make time for what you love during the day, especially if it has the potential to make your day better or to relieve stress. Your life shouldn’t be consumed by work. You need to balance that with things you enjoy in order to not become burned out and eventually lose yourself.
When was the last time you picked up a book, or rode your bike, or went out to your garden, or did whatever else you enjoy?
I know, for me, it’s been a while since did something other than this after I come home from work. My books, gaming consoles, puzzles, and knitting needles are all collecting dust. But why? I don’t have any less time to do these things than I did a year ago. Is it that I’m too tired? Have I lost interest? Or is it the illusion that there isn’t enough time to do everything I want, so I decide to do none of those things?
Whatever it is, I know I should try and get back into my hobbies, even if it requires me to set up a schedule for myself once I get home. I know that once I get back into them, I’ll be happier and less stressed than I am now. And who knows, it could work for you too if you’re having the same problem I am.
